Discussion Text: Is Budi Utomo The Symbol of Revival in Indonesia?

Ing ngarso sung tulodo
Ing madya mangun karso
Tut wuri handayani
Giving model from the front
Giving spirit from the middle
Giving support from behind

The National Revival Day is never separated from the role of national pioneers. The pioneers make their spirit as motivation for the progress of Indonesia. An example of pioneer institution in Indonesia is Budi Utomo which was established on 20 May 1908. Budi Utomo was also known as symbol of revival in Indonesia. I agree with the opinion because Budi Utomo is the first organization motivating the people to go ahead and to free from the colonialism. National Revival Day is a day which is celebrated in Indonesia every 20 May to remember the struggle and spirit of Indonesian people in getting the freedom. This day has been celebrated in Indonesia more than one century. In fact, there are different opinions from some experts about when the National Revival day should be celebrated. This essay will discuss about the pros and cons of Budi Utomo considered as the symbol of revival.

Jigsaw method is now popular as one of cooperative learning method which suitable to use in school and university. Jigsaw is an interesting cooperative learning technique which includes five or six persons in order to solve problem together. This technique looks like a jigsaw puzzle, all of the parts are important. Each student has essential role and that is precisely what makes this strategy so effective. Academic Writing
Examiners from many kinds of universities found many types of academic writing that are used by the students. They were document essay, summaries, proposals, book review. It will be different in various education majors.  But, many students don’t feel easy in writing and sometime it is very difficult to be accepted writing. These facts make many arguments about what should we do before writing.

DePorter, B.(2009). Quantum Writer. Bandung: Kaifa.
Introduction
Quantum Writer by Bobbi DePorter (2009) is the title of the book that I chose to review. In this book, DePorter describes that writing is not a difficult subject. We can make it easy, fun, and get the better result. I chose this book because I do agree with the author statement that writing is easy and fun if we have desire to do it and the great strategies. Writing needs one per cent skill and 99 per cent desire. If we have had the desire just try to start writing step by step by using the strategy to bring your brilliant idea out into your paper.

Academic Writing

Academic Writing

Academic writing is one kind of writing. From its name, we can get the point that this kind of writing is applied for academic community, such as teachers, lecturers, and students. There are many kinds of academic writings for example thesis, article, report, essay, and many others. It is very important to know how to make an academic writing because students of universities need it to finish their school. In U.S., English Department Writing Lab has been made since 1960s to help the students-writers (Thonus, 2002). Many students think that academic writing is like an alien form of literacy because academic writing has some requirements. Two of them are using the idea of self and there is data as explained below.

Managing Ideas in Writing

I.                      INTRODUCTION
Writing is one important skill that must be learnt.  The importance of writing is not only for academic area but also for daily life. All writing has a purpose. We write to explore our thoughts and emotions, to express ourselves, to entertain or to communicate with others. Writing can be a job or communicating tool (Bullock, 2006). Writing can be a media for expressing feeling that can help us to feel better.
